The Fund for American Studies DC Internship Program Extends Application Deadline
The Fund for American Studies DC Internship program has just announced an extension to their deadline to apply for the program, according to a recent press release. In order to be considered, visit www.DCinternships.org/JComm for more information and begin an online application. Students will learn if they were admitted to this internship program within two weeks of submitting their application so that they can better begin to make their summer plans.
Jackson Barnett, a student from the University of Colorado Boulder who interned at Homeland 411 Magazine through The Fund for American Studies DC Internship program says, “The opportunities with my internship were unlimited. I would spend days bouncing between Capitol Hill, meeting with State Department officials, the White House and everything in between. I got to write about topics all over the world and be present for some of the biggest breaking stories.”
Barnett’s story is a perfect example of the success of students who intern through The Fund for American Studies DC Internship program. Every summer, this program offers a plethora of different internships for students interested in journalism to take part in. These experiences can be crucial and make the difference between a student’s success and failure in this field.
The program runs June 8 through August 2, 2019. Interested students can also take classes at George Mason University in addition to their internship, such as the internship seminar being offered by Professor Richard Benedetto, founding White House and Campaign Reporter for USA TODAY. Housing at George Mason University is provided for all students enrolled in the program.
If this program sounds like an experience you do not want to miss out on, be sure to check out the scholarship opportunities as well as over 85% of student interns are usually awarded funding based on financial need. There is still funding available for interested students, so be sure to get your applications in as soon as possible!
